Nebraska to receive less federal grant money due to making bad bet on ethanol in 2011

In Nebraska, the state will receive less grant money this year under the federal Community Development Block Grant program to pay back funds that went towards projects supporting businesses in 2011 that eventually failed to create the required number of jobs demanded by the policy. An auditor found that $278,610 went toward building a road to an ethanol plant in Aurora that went bankrupt before creating the promised jobs.
