US ethanol sales edge up
According to EIA data as analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association, ethanol production averaged 965,000 barrels per day (b/d)—or 40.53 million gallons daily. That is up 4,000 b/d from the week before. The four-week average for ethanol production stood at 966,000 b/d for an annualized rate of 14.81 billion gallons.
Stocks of ethanol stood at 18.5 million barrels. That is a 3.7% decrease from last week and the lowest of the year. Ethanol stocks are roughly 15% lower than February levels, yet ethanol blending is up roughly 7%.
Imports of ethanol were zero b/d for the 16th straight week and the 31st time in 32 weeks. Gasoline demand for the week averaged 406.8 million gallons daily. Refiner/blender input of ethanol averaged 898,000 b/d. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production was 9.96%.
On the co-products side, ethanol producers were using 14.632 million bushels of corn to produce ethanol and 107,047 metric tons of livestock feed, 95,363 metric tons of which were distillers grains. The rest is comprised of corn gluten feed and corn gluten meal. Additionally, ethanol producers were providing 5.68 million pounds of corn distillers oil daily.
