Amyris wins highest ISO cosmetic certification, sees demand growing as addressable market expands

September 6, 2015 |

In California, Amyris has achieved certification by the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) highest Cosmetic standard — 22716 for Good Manufacturing Standards (GMP) with its manufacturing partner, Glycotech, Inc. This certification of the Glycotech facility, granted on July 2, 2015, enables Amyris’s B2B and B2C cosmetics businesses to more readily access high potential markets, with customers being assured that the company’s Neossance and Biossance high-performance emollients are produced to the exacting quality and purity standards demanded for cosmetics.

Today, over 440 leading brands incorporate Amyris’s high-performance cosmetic ingredients into their own products. Having received certification, Amyris believes its addressable cosmetic growth opportunities are now significantly broadened, particularly in instances where ISO 22716 enables increased market access to new customers. ISO 22716 is an international standard that provides guidelines for the production, control, storage and distribution of cosmetic products. As a result, companies that have demonstrated GMP standards typically have a greater ability to pursue market penetration in markets where ISO certification provides a competitive advantage.
