Arkansas community concerned about Green Plains Partners’ planned transfer facility

November 18, 2015 |

In Arkansas, the community of Maumelle where Green Plains Partners and Delek hope to site a planned 4.5 million gallon ethanol storage and transfer facility is beginning to voice concerns about the impact of the project on the area. Though the planned site is zoned industrial, it’s only about 2,000 feet from the town’s high school, something which is raising flags due to a planned rail link for the facility and up to 20 tankers per day moving the fuel around. Some are concerned about safety, while others want to ensure there will be economic benefits for the community such as new jobs.
