Hopes for Georgia ethanol transfer station put on ice by county zoning commission

January 12, 2016 |

In Georgia, Epic Midstream continues to run up against local opposition to install a rail spur and an ethanol transfer station to allow it to transfer ethanol to its pipeline from Norfolk Southern rail cars. The Macon-Bibb County zoning commission approved in December the zoning change for the proposed 50 acre site from agriculture to light industrial but denied the conditional use permit for the rail spur. At a meeting Monday where the company tried to allay some concerns, the commission wasn’t convinced enough to hold another hearing about the topic because their concerns lie with the safety of transporting ethanol.
