European ethanol crush margins hit two-week highs

February 3, 2016 |

In the Netherlands, rising ethanol prices mixed with falling feedstock costs have helped to push the crushing margin to two-week highs. The crush margin for wheat-based ethanol is around EUR120 per cubic meter while it is about EUR140 from corn. Though corn prices have been more unsteady, wheat has steadily fallen 13% since November when it reached a four-month high. Margins are not driving price for either feedstocks or ethanol at the moment with pure supply and demand at work in the market.
