US ethanol production jumps to 14.86 billion gallon annual rate

According to EIA data as analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association, ethanol production averaged 969,000 barrels per day (b/d)—or 40.70 million gallons daily. That is up 10,000 b/d from the week before. The four-week average for ethanol production stood at 968,000 b/d for an annualized rate of 14.86 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol stood at 23.0 million barrels. That is a 2.7% increase from last week and the highest level since EIA began publishing weekly data in June 2010.

Imports of ethanol were non-existent for the eighth straight week and 12th time in 13 weeks.

Gasoline demand for the week averaged 383.1 million gallons (9.122 million barrels) daily, up 9% from the previous week and the highest of the year. Refiner/blender input of ethanol averaged 858,000 b/d. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production was 10.62%, the lowest rate of the new year.
