ADM to mothball Brazilian ethanol plant until it can sell the facility

February 25, 2016 |

In Brazil, Archer Daniel Midlands plans to mothball its Limeira do Oeste ethanol plant during the next season, following failed attempts since 2012 to sell it. The facility has been shutdown since the end of the crush in December for annual maintenance. The company is also looking to potentially sell off three dry mill ethanol plants in the US, which between the four facilities accounted for a cut of $45 million in operating profit of the corn ethanol segment that includes the Brazilian plant. The segment’s profit fell 44% in 2015.
