Glencore’s 2015 biodiesel production calls 27% as demand slides

March 1, 2016 |

In Switzerland, Glencore saw its biodiesel production fall 27% during 2015 to 556,000 metric tons as low diesel prices weighed on demand and regulatory hurdles kept sales down. Higher rapeseed prices due to a smaller crop last year squeezed margins on the remaining production, part of the hit to the company’s agricultural division that saw overall profits fall 39% on the year. A minority stake in the agri division will be sold likely during Q2.
