Brazilian House approves bill to boost biodiesel blend to 10% in three years

March 3, 2016 |

In Brazil, the House of Representatives has approved a bill to boost biodiesel blending to 8% from the current 7%, to 9% in the next 24 months and to 10% in the next 36 months. The law will allow blending of up to 15% biodiesel if automobile manufacturers approve its use. Soy oil continues to be the dominant feedstock for biofuels but the biodiesel industry sought the increased blending mandate in part to boost the diversification of feedstocks including UCO and tallow.
