Ethanol demand in Europe falls further

March 24, 2016 |

In the Netherlands, demand for ethanol continues to fall, having a negative impact on prices that in turn has pulled down the ethanol premium over Eurobob gasoline to a 32-week low. Ethanol has not been at a discount to gasoline in Europe since November 2014 when fossil fuel prices fell dramatically. The lower premium is seen as a relief to blenders who must comply with ethanol blending mandates or need ethanol as an oxygenate blendstock.
