Brazil’s higher biodiesel blends not likely soon due to motor test delays

April 4, 2016 |

In Brazil, testing for 10% biodiesel blends is delayed, which will likely cause a domino effect for implementation of the 8%, 9% and 10% biodiesel blending policy recently signed into law by the president. Even though the 10% blend isn’t scheduled for implementation for another three years, before the higher blends above the current 7% can be implemented, a working group under the National Energy Policy Council, or CNPE, must sign off that they won’t damage the domestic fleet. So the likelihood of the 8% being implemented in the next 12 months as planned is very small.
