Hydrous ethanol prices rise in Brazil as mills switch to sugar

August 3, 2016 |

In Brazil, hydrous ethanol prices continue to rise despite being in the midst of the crush due to reduced supply availability. Thanks to high sugar prices, mills have switched their focus to sugar production away from ethanol production, which is supporting the price rise for ethanol. Last week saw hydrous ethanol prices reach $1.80/gal, up nearly 2% on the week. Anhydrous ethanol, whose sales remain mostly on contract rather than spot, saw a 4.5% price increase to $1.96/gal.
