Brazilian ethanol imports soar in July to 55 million liters

August 9, 2016 |

In Brazil, as sugar mills continue to focus on sugar production rather than ethanol, the country hit a record volume of ethanol imports in July at nearly 55 million liters, up 46% over June and a huge leap from the 1.3 million liters imported in July 2015. Nearly all of the imports came in through the Northeast port of Sao Luis and originated from the US at an FOB price of $505.40/cu m. Despite the jump in imports in July, total imports for the year are down 24% so far.
