In South Korea, ethanol importers are buying more supplies from Pakistan rather than its traditional origin Brazil due to a growing price difference. S&P Global Platts reported on Friday that ethanol prices were near a five month high at $5/cu m higher from Brazil’s Paranagua port at $550/cu m. High Brazilian prices in August kept buyers from the market but it has opened an opportunity for Pakistan who is quoting a $15 to $20 per cubic meter discount.
