Wesaf Energy launches cane ethanol pilot project with eye on cooking stove market

November 7, 2016 |

In Cameroon, Wesaf Energy has set up a pilot project in the rural village of Inokun in the Manyu Division of South West Cameroon to produce ethanol from sugarcane. With the 322 hectares owned by the company, complimented by sugarcane grown by local farmers, it believes it could produce up to 3 million gallons of ethanol annually, powered by cogeneration from bagasse combined with solar. As there is no blending mandate in the country, the company is looking to supply the ethanol for cooking stoves.
