National Green Tribune hits hard at UP mills without safety permissions

November 9, 2016 |

In India, the National Green Tribune is all but asking UP mills and distilleries producing ethanol and alcohol without permission from Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization to beg to not be shut down. Only two of the state’s 35 distilleries have the required permission but all have since applied in hopes of being allowed to continue operating. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for December 9. The case was first brought to the court by an NGO called SAFE who uncovered the lack of compliance it claims is putting people and the environment at risk.
