Delaware’s environmental agency OKs EBF Energy’s ethanol transport hub project

In Delaware, the state’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has given EBF Energy the required approvals under the state’s Coastal Zone Act in order to receive and ship unblended ethanol by barge from its refinery in Delaware City to other depots throughout the East Coast. The permit opens the door for the $7 million project to receive other required permissions to begin operating. Environmental groups including the Audubon Society have objecting to the project, saying it is explicitly forbidden in the coastal legislation meant to protect the area from industrial development.
