DDGs exports look to speed up exports to Mexico before trade relationship sours further

In Illinois, in light of President Donald Trump’s continuingly poor relationship with Mexico from threatening import taxes on Mexican goods and seeking to renegotiate NAFTA, DDGs producers and others are looking to ramp up exports to Mexico in a hurry before the trade situation deteriorates further. Potential alternative markets for DDGs should Mexico, the US’s third largest agricultural importer, no longer be viable include Nicaragua. More than 130 major food producers and associations sent the president a letter last week highlighting the benefits of NAFTA in hopes of easing his position on renegotiation.
