Lobbies rush to the finish line over RFS point of obligation

February 22, 2017 |

In Washington, the fight over the point of obligation for the Renewable Fuel Standard is heating up again, with API submitting comments on Wednesday to the Environmental Protection Agency in support of the agency’s proposed decision to reject moving the Point of Obligation for RFS compliance. On the other side of the debate, truck stop owners’ trade group, NATSO, is encouraged by what it calls the vast support to keep the current compliance structure under the RFS. NATSO, in collaboration with other industry stakeholders, has engaged a diverse group of more than 35 organizations and companies representing downstream blenders, fuel retailers, marketers and end users at the federal and state levels. These groups speak on behalf of a majority of the fuel sector, which opposes the shift.
