In Qatar, the local franchise owner for McDonald’s has teamed with a local used cooking oil collector and processor to produce biodiesel from the more than 100,000 liters of oil the country’s 40 restaurants use every year. The resulting biodiesel is ISCC certified. The program is a result of McDonald’s supply chain division in an attempt to divert UCO from ending up in local waterways and by reducing GHG emissions through the availability of UCO biodiesel.
