German biofuel consumption recovers in March

In Germany, biodiesel consumption soared more than 53% in March over the previous month at 134,436 metric tons, though the on-year increase was more modest at just over 6%. Biodiesel blending hit 5.78% on a volumetric basis, more than 100 points higher than February but still down from March 2016’s 6.06%. Ethanol consumption also recovered by nearly 15% in March to 79,781 tons but was off from March 2016 by nearly 2%. Ethanol blending fell from February as well as March 2016 at 4.95%.
