Indian ethanol companies may be worse off after GST

In India, oil marketing companies are demanding that sugar mills seeking to supply ethanol submit audited documentation regarding the input tax credit they receive with an expectation that it will be deducted from the price paid for the ethanol. In addition, the interstate duties lobbed on ethanol by states such as Gujarat, Delhi, and Haryana have yet to be eliminated despite the expectation they would be once the Goods and Services Tax was implemented on July 1.
