In Australia, the New South Wales Greens have published a new analysis saying that the state’s 6% ethanol blending mandate costs consumers an extra A$143 million per year and pointed the finger at local ethanol producer Manildra, who pushed for the mandate to expanded last year to more gas stations, for making an addition A$4.4 million profit as a result of the expansion. Those who wish to fill up with non-ethanol blended fuel must buy premium gasoline, so the additional figures are based on having to buy that more expensive fuel.
