November 21, 2017 |

In China, a Hainan Airways flight departed from Beijing en route to Chicago flying on a blend of waste cooking oil-based aviation biofuel produced by Sinopec as part of a international cooperation project between China and the US. The fuel is made at Sinopec’s Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company in Ningbo, East China’s Zhejiang province using UCO collected from restaurants. Hainan Airlines first flew a domestic flight on aviation biofuel in 2015 but this is its first international flight on a biofuel blend.
