Drivers seen brunting most of the cost of RINs

In New York, despite constant rhetoric that the Renewable Fuel Standard increases costs through compliance costs associated with buying RINs, a senior analyst at Wells Fargo told Bloomberg that as much as 83% of the price of RINs were actually pushed on to the motorist, who in the end were bearing the brunt of the policy’s costs. Instead of the situation worsening for independent refiners, instead many of them have seen their margins increase since Trump was elected into the White House.
