Argentine biodiesel production capacity 70% mothballed

In Argentina, 70% of biodiesel production capacity has been mothballed following the closure of the US market that had absorbed 90% of the country’s exports previously. Even with the reopening of European markets to Argentine biodiesel, the EU isn’t expected to absorb as much as the US had, leaving producers wondering what 2018 will look like and if other potential markets could allow them to bring capacity back online. The country expects about 500,000 metric tons of biodiesel will go to Europe in 2018.
