China looks at investment in Malaysian palm oil to boost biodiesel

In Malaysia, the Chinese government is trying to encourage its domestic companies to invest in Malaysia’s palm oil industry because of the major opportunities to supply the Chinese transportation market with biodiesel. The country imports around 8 million metric tons of biodiesel while only producing about 300,000 tons a year as recently as 2015. China says it has opened its doors to Malaysian biodiesel and palm oil alike, saying there are no barriers or glass ceilings.
