The council is excited about the job creation opportunities but the site chosen borders a residential area that has neighbors concerned about noise, safety and lowered property values. New Zealand’s Z Energy still believes in biodiesel project despite delays and budget overruns

In May, we reported that New Zealand’s Z Energy is still positive about its tallow-based biodiesel project despite being two year behind schedule and 15% over budget—so far. The company attributes the delays to the difficulty of the process it’s attempting to implement along with land issues and power supply challenges that are common to many energy projects of this scale. Z Energy hopes that it will have the project online this year but is reticent to give a fixed dates considering the challenges it has faced so far.
