In Indonesia, threats of sanctions and fines are coming from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan for any company that doesn’t adhere to the B20 regulations.

“If the BU do not carry out the mandatory, they will be subject to sanctions in the form of payment of a fine of IDR6,000 per liter of biofuel volume to be blended with fuel. If three warnings [have been issued] and remain disobedient, more severe sanctions namely revocation of licenses awaits them,” said the Energy Minister via a press release according to Netral News.

If the B20 mandatory expansion policy runs smoothly, the use of renewable energy will increase to around 15 percent in the fuel mixture, and the government is optimistic to optimize the use of renewable energy in transporation to 20 percent, according to Netral News. “So, if possible, it is expanded to ethanol. So that the gasoline whether it is the RON 88 Premium or Pertamax (Turbo) which is RON 98 can be mixed with ethanol,” Jonan told Netral News.
