Cassava seed planting kicks off at SunBird Zambia

December 31, 2018 |

In Zambia, local press reports that planting of cassava for SunBird’s $800 million ethanol project has begun, creating 1,000 new jobs as a result. The project was commissioned by the president back in 2015 but is finally starting to get off the ground now with cassava seed planting underway. An estimated commissioning date for the ethanol distillery was not given in the article, however. The project aims to grow 20,000 ha of cassava to produce 120 million liters of ethanol per year.
