In Thailand, the Bangkok Post reports that PTT will buy 100,000 metric tons of palm oil for biodiesel feedstock in an effort to help eat into the country’s 400,000-ton surplus. Normally the country has stocks of around 250,000 tons while this year’s production could be half a million tons higher than normal. Last year’s production also left a half million-ton surplus but boosting biodiesel blending to 20% didn’t reduce the surplus as much as hoped.
