China says US ethanol isn’t competitive enough to buy

In China, Reuters and the China Daily both report that the Secretary General of the National Development and Reform Commission has called US President Trump’s accusations that the country isn’t buying US farm products as baseless, pointing to more than 4 million metric tons of soybeans contracted or delivered since the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan the end of June when the two countries decided to ease their ongoing trade war. Among the laundry list of US products China has bought since then in addition to soybeans, ethanol is not among them because the Secretary General said that prices are not competitive.
