European blenders facing challenges to achieve EU 2020 mandate

In Belgium, with just a few months to go before the end of the year, Platts reports that blenders are facing a hard time achieving the European Union’s 10% blending mandate for 2020 as well as requirements under the Fuel Quality Directive with even more challenges seen from next year due to EU member states choosing different ways to achieve carbon reduction targets for transport. Many EU countries are expected to miss the targets which should result in penalties and fines.
