Norwegian aviation biofuel project using salmon waste under development

January 14, 2020 |

In Norway, Biokraft has teamed with the Norwegian research and innovation organization SINTEF and potentially a German technical partner to build a pilot plant that would produce aviation fuel from salmon processing waste in central Norway. Financing for the facility that is expected to produce 10,000 metric tons of fuel annually is yet to be finalized depending on the availability of European funding. The fish waste will be combined with paper production and forestry waste which are abundant in the region.
