India’s oil marketing companies try yet again to source ethanol in third tender

March 11, 2020 |

In India, the Business Standard reports that oil marketing companies hope that the third time is the charm and have launched yet another ethanol buy tender for 2.53 billion liters to source ethanol for the current season ending in November. With a lack of molasses due to smaller sugarcane harvests impacted by drought and flooding over the past two years, mills didn’t have the feedstock to produce the more than 5 billion liters of ethanol sought by OMCs at the start of the December-November season, nor during the more recent 2.53 billion liter tender that could only be characterized as a bust.
