Brazil biodiesel auction breaks records for price, volume and total transaction level

June 10, 2020 |

In Brazil, EPBR reports the results of the 73rd ANP biodiesel auction broke not one but three records: the highest volume of biodiesel ever sold at an auction, the highest average nominal price and the largest financial transaction ever made. The increase in the average final price of biodiesel, above 60 cents per liter, should impact the pumps, putting pressure on the price of diesel to the consumer. This is because, currently, B12 is in force, determined by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), which stipulates a mandatory minimum percentage of 12% of biodiesel for diesel oil sold to the final consumer. The biodiesel sold at auction will be blended during July and August.
