Brazilian ethanol use between March 2003 and May 2020 saved 515M tons of CO2 emissions

In Brazil, Renewables Now reports that UNICA has analyzed data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels which shows 515 million metric tons of CO2 emissions have been avoided by using ethanol between March 2003 and May 2020. Ethanol can save up to 90% of CO2 emissions compared to using fossil-based gasoline, so using ethanol allowed the country to save the equivalent of the annual emission of Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and Paraguay.
