Global Partners wants to swap out ethanol transport for renewable diesel

July 2, 2020 |

In Oregon, local press reports Global Partners told a recent Port of Columbia County meeting it wants to switch its lease to transporting renewable diesel from its current contract that allows it to transport ethanol. The switch to renewable diesel would see shorter trains, meaning more train trips to bring in and out the same volume of fuel as before, but with fewer delays for drivers at train crossings. If port commissioners approve the change then the company could start bringing in renewable diesel before the end of the year.
