India looks to blend biogas with natural gas to reduce fossil fuel imports

In India, the Press Trust of India reports the government is looking at the possibility of blending biogas with natural gas as part of its strategy to decarbonize transport and reduce imports of fossil fuels. The Oil Secretary has called on state governments to help support the biogas drive, especially in order to secure MSW and agricultural wastes for feedstock, as well as for financial institutions to invest the technologies required to produce the gas. Domestic sources of gas are limited but could be significantly enhanced through the use of bio-based fuels, he said during a webinar marking World Biofuels Day.
