Indian sugar mills have until October 15 to submit ethanol project proposals for soft funding

In India, the Press Trust of India reports the government has given sugar mills until October 15 to submit proposals for new ethanol production capacity and take advantage of the soft loans announced in June 2018. Only 68 projects have been funded so far because of the weak balance sheets of many sugar mills but the government has been working with banks and the oil marketing companies to find innovative ways of trading ethanol that will take the loans off of the mills’ books, allowing them to secure financing and increase production.
