In Canada, Blackburn News reports that after operating its pilot plant at the Sarnia-Lambton Research Park for the past decade, Woodland Biofuels is looking at building its first commercial facility at the nearby Arlanxeo bio-industrial park. The company was awarded a C$5 million grant in August 2019 to build the 80 million liter per year facility that will use forestry waste and construction and demolition wood waste as ethanol feedstock.

Over the road, LCY Biosciences who took over the former BioAmber site to produce succinic acid is looking at a C$30 million expansion to produce vitamin A and beta carotene as well.
