CVR Energy looking at renewable diesel at Coffeyville refinery

November 4, 2020 |

In Kansas, Reuters reports CVR Energy is jumping onto the renewable diesel bandwagon like many other refiners, exploring the possibility to produce the fuel at its Coffeyville refinery if production at its Wynnewood, Oklahoma refinery is successful. The Coffeyville facility has excess hydrogen capacity which could be retrofitted to produce renewable diesel. The Wynnewood retrofit is expected to be online by July 2021 with feedstock deliveries expected for May. If market conditions prevail and all goes well at Wynnewood, the company could also look to install feedstock pretreatment units.
