Ethanol stocks reach 27-week high as blending dips to lowest since May

December 9, 2020 |

In Washington, DTN reports Energy Information Administration data shows ethanol stocks rose to a 27-week high at 22.083 million barrels on the back of the lowest volume blended since the end of May. Stocks increased across all five regions. Production continued to rise, reaching the highest seen March 20 at of 991,000 bpd, an increase of 1.7% but 7.6% lower on the year. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to gain strength across the US, fuel demand including for ethanol blending is falling as people shelter in place. Lack of holiday travel will likely reduce demand even further.
