MOU signed to develop cassava-based biorefinery in Nigeria’s Plateau state

In Nigeria, This Day newspaper reports the state of Plateau has signed a memorandum of understanding with CONTEC Global to develop a cassava-based biorefinery in the state. The new facility will take advantage of the region’s strong agricultural production to produce ethanol, biogas, animal feed, dry ice from CO2 capture and bio-fertilizer, creating 3,000 direct and indirect jobs. Excess electricity and water will be made available for use by the neighboring community. The project is meant to be 51% owned by CONTEC and the remainder by the state government, based on equity contributions.
