RIN prices soar to three-year highs after EPA fails to publish 2021 RVOs again

January 5, 2021 |

In New York state, Reuters reports that RINs have soared to three-year highs after the Environmental Protection Agency failed to issue blending volumes for 2021 before the end of 2020 with D6 RINs trading at 79.5 cents on Monday while D4 RINs traded at $1.04. After failing to release the proposed rule earlier this summer or even by the final rule’s deadline on November 30, the EPA had posted a notice indicating it expected to publish the proposed rule by December 31, but it did not do so. There has been speculation for the past few months that the Trump Administration would push the decision to the Biden Administration which will likely add on several more months to the decision.
