Indonesian palm oil production seen 4.5% higher in 2021

February 15, 2021 |

In Indonesia, the Jakarta Post newspaper reports the national palm oil production association (GAPKI) expects palm oil production to rise 4.5% this year thanks to increased demand as the global economy begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The association estimates production could reach 53.9 million metric tons this year, up from 51.63 million tons in 2020. GAPKI expects that much of the global demand increase will depend on how quickly the population can be vaccinated against coronavirus.
