Argentina bill looks to cut ethanol and biodiesel blending mandates

In Argentina, Platts reports the country’s ruling party has, ahead of the 2006 national blending law’s expiry in May, submitted a bill to Congress that would cut ethanol blending to 10% from 12% and biodiesel to 5% from 10%. The president said earlier last month that he would seek to maintain blending mandates at current levels, but the energy minister said this week that there was “leeway” to cut the mandates, saying the market is much different than it was back when the original law was passed.
