March 25, 2021 |

In Italy, Novamont and Iren have signed a three-year collaboration agreement in the field of integrated waste collection systems with the aim of reducing non-recyclable waste and fully implementing the objectives of the circular bioeconomy.

The two companies are committed to the development of specific projects for the optimized management of products and compostable packaging, their recovery and enhancement together with the organic fraction of waste solids in Iren treatment plants.

Alongside the establishment of a technical working group aimed at the bilateral exchange of information, knowledge and experience, the agreement provides for the organization of dedicated flows (including of an experimental) of organic fraction with disposable compostable products from markets, shops catering and large events.

Several projects were included in the agreement, including the realization of a technical-economic model of efficient and environmentally sustainable management of waste generated during the pre-treatment phases of the organic fraction inside the anaerobic digestion and composting plants, by means of optical sorting technologies, maximizing their recovery.
