HPCL to invest nearly $54M in grain-based ethanol in Himachal Pradesh

In India, the ANI news agency reports that Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited will invest nearly $54 million in a new 125,000 liter per day grain-based ethanol facility in Himachal Pradesh. Rice and wheat will be sourced as feedstocks from neighboring areas as well as from Punjab. The state’s chief minister has been pushing New Delhi to allow for grain-based ethanol production as a way for states like HP that have limited or no sugarcane production to also take advantage of the country’s shift to higher ethanol blending.
